The book was created after the national tragedy of September 11, 2001. Bell decided what the world needed was a message of hope, so he solicited stories from his friends. That e-mail made it literally around the world, and Bell was deluged with stories from across the United States and other countries, including Australia, Japan, England, Greece, and Canada. The response was so great, Bell had to enlist writer friends to help read through the submissions.

The end result was From the Heart: Stories of Love and Friendship, a collection of 51 uplifting and inspirational stories
